Or alternatively, Adrian - on as much if not more money than he was here and has a few medals in his collection.

Would Glen Johnson have had a better career if he'd stuck with us a little while longer rather than join Chelsea? Obviously got more cash/medals, but only seemed like a fringe player there and his career only really kicked on when he joined Portsmouth.

scouse kid Cottee had to leave London due to his personal situation

No doubt Joe Cole has a great career but part of me feels.thatbif he had stayed with us for a few more seasons learning how to play as a 10 he would've been unstoppable. Imho Mourinho playing him on the left stifled his flair

Re: West Ham player that regretted leaving for bigger clubs
Always have to chuckle when the likes of Cole, Cottee and even Rio to an extent seem to be West Ham fans again, years after leaving the club. I can understand them leaving but certainly in Cottee's case he didn't win anything, and was sub regularly under a couple of managers so what was the point?

Frank Mac I could understand as Celtic were his boyhood club and he made himself a legend up there. I'm pretty sure both Alan Dickens and Stuart Slater regret their moves. Would be interesting to see how Bobby Moore would be looked upon now as didn't he want to leave before the 66 World Cup but to be part of the squad you had to be registered with a club?

Re: West Ham player that regretted leaving for bigger clubs
zico,

Cottee has always been a West Ham fan as have all his family. He still goes to most home games.

Rio was a South London boy who now supports Man Utd, while Joe Cole was a Chelsea supporter from West London.

Cottee left West Ham because he was frustrated with the lack of ambition of the club after the 85/86 season.

He was still doing his bit by scoring 20 goals each season but the team were back to fighting relegation again.

Imagine how he felt knowing the team were struggling and then they sold his strike partner to Celtic and didn’t replace him for 6 months?

It tells you everything when as soon as Cottee left in the summer of 1988 we then proceeded to get relegated the following season. Cottee’s goals were pretty much keeping us up on his own.

It didn’t work out for him at Everton but he still scored 99 goals in 6 years for them and got to a couple of cup finals while we suffered 2 relegations and spent 3 years in the 2nd division during the period.

Dicks left for a bigger club and basically failed there. Whether he regretted the big pay rise I don't know.

Adrian was second fiddle to Fabianski when he left wasn’t he? Probably earned more and got medals doing same at Liverpool. I don’t reckon he regretted the move.

Bilic going to Everton was very random

Cottee also failed at Everton

Plus loads others

Only a handful went onto better things.
